20 & 27th of July, 2013 - Garden of the Sensorial : Hannah's Whirl
Experimental theater based on a true story about 1890's Hillsborough River.
Willow Street Studios
Tampa, Florida.

The Cuban Sandwich Show asked me to bring a video installation for this year's show.  A group of people were introduced to some of Florida's amazing plants while being taken on a night time walk through a veritable jungle where they witnessed a number strange and curious things whilst strolling thru Hanna's dream.  Hard for me to describe but you can check out a review of this unique experience from Art Taco here This film of manatees in the Hillsborough River in Tampa was projected and looped into the bottom of an aluminum canoe, that was in the middle of a small clump of trees and ferns, in the dark of night.

26.4.13 - The Venture Compound - Saint Petersburg, Florida.

The first show I played was in June '12, with Public Speaking, among others, at Venture Compound, so this show was like a coming full circle thing for me.  That just means that I traveled a certain distance over a course of time and ended up at the same place I started at.

February 21-24, 2013 @ Deep Carnivale, Grownman Brand Studio, Tampa.

On Saturday the 23rd, at 10:00, I dropped a very improvised spoken word deal on some nice people at this year's Deep Carnivale, at Grownman Factory, in Tampa, Florida.

February 3rd, 2013 @ Venture Compound, St. Pete

This was the St. Pete 2013 I.N.C. pre-show, hosted by Venture Compound.

6.11.12 - Uncle Lou's, Orlando, Florida.

the explanations point played a short 10 minute set at the best little venue in Orlando, the hole in the wall that has it all, Uncle Lou's, with Curse (Baltimore), Candy Coins, Trotsky's Watercooler + 3 other bands.

2.11.12 - Saint Pete Noise Fest 5

Thanks to everyone that made this simultaneous implosion/explosion happen.

3.8.12 - 30.8.12 - The Cuban Sandwich Show, Tampa, Florida.

The Artists and Writers Group, Inc. presented a month-long series of cultural events about Tampa titled THE CUBAN SANDWICH SHOW, at numerous venues in Tampa, August 1-31, 2012. The premise is that all the art, in all mediums, has as its subject, "Tampa…and/or Cuban sandwiches." Our motto: All Art-All Tampa-No Mayo.

the explanations point contributed - "We're more native than you'll ever be." - to this month long show. The video featured in this installation was a two and a half minute loop of manatees breaking, and returning under, the surface of the Hillsborough river.  The video was projected from above, directly onto a screen of sand that was framed by "borrowed" Ybor City street bricks.  By the close of the show, it had ended up continuously looping somewhere around 140 hours.

Here's a classic sideways-cell phone clip from an attendee.

7.8.12 - Summer of Weirds III - Churchill's Pub - Miami, Florida.

Executed a long and painful set as the explanations point.  Everything went well enough to write home about and the Summer of Weirds lived up to it's already established reputation, and then some.

28.7.12 - The Venture Compound - Saint Petersburg, Florida.

This was a long, deafening blast with truly incredible bands from the start to the finish.  I was inspired by everyone that I saw and heard this night.  Good stuff.

There's a set of photos taken by Wayne S. Williams here and a review from Art Taco here.

16.6.12 - The Venture Compound - Saint Petersburg, Florida.

This was the first live audible outing for the explanations point.  It was a rewarding event.  The performance space is ideal, the night itself was beautiful, the people were friendly and the bands were all devastating.  I had fun going, contributing what I could muster up at the time, and getting this fleeting chance to listen to and witness everyone else.
